Referring to our interview with Mr. Grindle on

the 9th instant regarding the communication your office

had received from the Governor of Hong Kong on the

subject of the calling up for Military Service of the

firm's partner in London, when you informed us that

you had forwarded the despatch to the War office and

they had communicated their instructions to the National

Service Representative, we would inform you that at the

hearing of the Appeal yesterday, Captain Anstey, (the

National Service Representative) definitely stated that

he had not heard of such despatch nor had he received

any instructions and he objected to our clients being

allowed to retain this Partner to carry on the business.

We should therefore, in view of the extreme

importance of the matter, feel greatly obliged to you if

you could see your way to land us, on our undertaking to

return it to you immediately we have finished with it, the

letter from the Governor, as we desire to bring it to the
